Archuleta County is soliciting public review and comment on the Archuleta County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The purpose of this plan is to guide hazard mitigation planning in the county. The goal is to provide residents, visitors and property in Archuleta County better protection from hazards.
The plan and comment forms are available on the county’s Emergency Management website at www.acemergency.org (link is on the left side of the page).
The plan will also be available at the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office, Pagosa Fire Protection District Station No. 1, Chromo Post Office, the Archuleta Senior Center and the Arboles Sheriff’s Substation. Send comments to firstname.lastname@example.org. The comment period closes on Thursday, April 26.
The Archuleta County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan includes the Town of Pagosa Springs, Pagosa Fire Protection District, Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District and the Archuleta School District 50 Jt. as participating jurisdictions. Many other cooperating agencies assisted in the development of the plan, as well. In an effort to create a disaster-resistant community, each participating jurisdiction identified mitigation actions.
This plan will serve as a vital mechanism for the implementation of these actions. The plan is available for the public to review so that comments, concerns, and corrections can be incorporated into the final draft.
Archuleta Emergency Management staff realizes emergency planning is a whole community effort and welcomes the public’s options and comments.
