Auditions for ‘Cinderella’ set for April 13

Open auditions for the upcoming Music Boosters production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” will be held Friday, April 13, from 2-8 p.m. at the Pagosa Springs High School band room.

Those wishing to audition for a part, whether a lead role or as a member of the company, are asked to bring music, sing a solo (about 32 measures), and read a part from the script. Some light dancing is involved as well, but the steps are taught upon arrival at the audition. An accompanist will be provided.

Rehearsals for the musical will be held at the high school beginning the middle of May and the production will be June 29 and 30, and July 1, 5, 6, and 7 at the high school. The musical will be accompanied by a live pit orchestra directed by Sally Neel, and the theatrical production will be directed by Dale Johnson.

These Music Boosters productions are a highly anticipated musical theater delight for our community each summer. While they appear to be of professional quality, Music Boosters utilizes the talents of the Pagosa Springs community with an all-volunteer cast and orchestra. The cast is well-rehearsed and has a great time working together to present these family-friendly musicals.

“These musical theater productions are a wonderful community building experience for all involved, whether the volunteers are members of the cast, the orchestra, the set designers, or technical team,” says Johnson. “We have such fun working together, we all feel like family by the time the curtain goes down for the last time.”

Music Boosters is hoping for a large turnout for the auditions. “We don’t want anyone to think that just because they have never done it before, that it is impossible to land a role,” says Johnson. “As the Fairy Godmother’s song says, ‘Impossible things are happening every day!’”

Music Boosters is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen youth through the performing arts and adult volunteer mentorship. All proceeds are directed toward assisting the performing arts and providing scholarships for our local schools.
