The American Cancer Society, as part of the Pagosa’s annual Relay for Life event, is sponsoring a Snowshoe Event for the community’s cancer survivors, patients, family members and caretakers on March 31.
Participants will gather at a not-yet-identified location to snowshoe or hike (depending on the conditions) with Step Outside guide and owner Stacey Boone, who is donating her time and resources for the event.
The gathering will celebrate survivors, giving them an opportunity to share a unique outdoor experience, make new friends and enjoy springtime in Pagosa.
Relay for Life launched its 2012 campaign earlier this month with a Kick Off event, at which 10 of the projected 30 teams signed up. The teams will gather on June 22 to raise funds for cancer research and services to patients during treatment.
In 2011, the American Cancer Society provided 207 services to 57 patients and caregivers in Archuleta County. Survivors invite everyone in the community to help support this life-saving and life-supporting organization by participating in the events it sponsors.
Registration of $10 for participants in the Snowshoe Event is due by March 29.
