Librada (Lilly) Gurule was received into the loving arms of our Lord on Feb. 20, 2012. She reached the end of her life’s journey at age 96 and left us quietly and peacefully, leaving her family, friends and acquaintances a legacy of memories.
Librada was born Nov. 9, 1915, in Juanita, Colo. She was the baby of Sofia and Joe Williams and was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and was the last member of her first family. She was married to Tony Gurule in Parkview, N.M., on Feb. 16, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1965. Librada touched many lives and all who knew her will experience her memory and say their goodbyes in their own personal and private way.
She is survived by her sons, Tony Gurule, Enriquez and Amadeo Lovato, daughters Stella Martinez and Irene Lucero, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, who will forever remember her many expressions of love that she felt for them.
Memorial services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Pagosa Springs, beginning with recitation of the Holy Rosary on Friday evening, May 25, 2012, at 6 p.m. Mass will be held on May 26 at 11 a.m., followed by interment of her ashes at Hilltop Cemetery in Pagosa Springs. As we lay her to rest, the family invites everyone to join them at the meal to be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall following the burial.
