This two-day introductory workshop focuses on hand forming, texturing and assembling clay, all without the use of a potter’s wheel or other equipment.

Students are introduced to coil, pinch, and slab methods of construction, preparing them for continuing work in ceramics if desired.

Instructor D. Michael Coffee has been a professional ceramist for 15 years. His experience includes teaching college and private master courses; consulting; extensive studio work; kiln design and construction; firing expertise; and overseas ceramic study.

Ceramics from the Potter’s Wheel I

This introductory potter’s wheel course runs five consecutive Saturday mornings, June 2-30, 10 a.m.-noon, and includes optional studio time, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily.

Glazing date to be determined.

Course fee: $275; includes use of all required studio equipment, studio tools, misc. consumable materials, 25 lbs. of stoneware clay (additional clay can be purchased for $20 per 25 lbs.), studio glazes, bisque and glaze firings, and open studio time.
