Use a U-Way certificate when you dine with your sweetheart

Valentine’s Day will soon be upon us, and United Way of Southwest Colorado would like to suggest an easy and fun way to treat your sweetheart and benefit your community at the same time.

From now until April 30, you can purchase United Way $20 Dining Certificates, which are valid at any of the 27 local restaurants listed below. You receive full face value and the participating restaurant donates $4 from each certificate to United Way.

The concept is simple: go to one of the restaurants and present the certificate when you order your food (some restaurants will allow the certificate to be used towards alcoholic beverages as well). Use the Dining Certificate like a $20 bill. (Certificates cannot be used for taxes, tips or prior balances, and cannot be combined with other restaurant certificates, third party certificates, coupons or promotions.) You can use more than one certificate in one sitting, provided your total fare is a multiple of $20.

United Way Southwest Colorado hopes you will take advantage of this program not only for Valentine’s Day, but for dining out anytime during the next three months.

It is easy to keep several certificates in your car so they will be readily available the next time you stop to eat at one of the following participating restaurants (Higher Grounds will even exchange the certificate for a $20 gift card that you can debit each time you come in for coffee or towards any item in the store): A Chivalrous Shark, Alley House Grille, Austin’s BBQ, Bacci Italian Restaurant, Bear Creek Saloon and Grill, Boss Hogg’s Restaurant and Saloon, Boulder Coffee Cafe, Buffalo Inn Restaurant and Bar, Cafe Colorado, Chavolo’s Mexican Restaurant, Chimney Rock Restaurant and Tavern, DSP Pizzeria, Elkhorn Cafe, Farrago Market Cafe, Higher Grounds Coffee Company, Kip’s Grill and Cantina, Nello’s Bistro, Pagosa Baking Company, Pagosa Brewing and Grill, Pagosa Peaks Pizza, Plaza Grille, Ramon’s Mexican Restaurant, San Juan Road House, Shang Hai Chinese Restaurant, Thai Chilie, The Pines Restaurant at Pagosa Springs Golf Club and The Rose.

With so many restaurants to choose from, you should not go out to eat without a Dining Certificate in hand! United Way Dining Certificates also make wonderful gifts for all the people you appreciate, or just to give yourself a break.

United Way is raising funds to support 18 local charitable organizations that work in the areas of education, self-reliance and health. Please help us reach our goals and support local businesses by dining out on United Way Dining Certificates.

You can purchase United Way Dining Certificates at the Chamber of Commerce, Ross Aragon Community Center, PLPOA Recreation Center, the United Way office located in the Jann C. Pitcher Real Estate building, and from United Way board members and volunteers, and representatives of the following organizations: Archuleta County Education Center, Archuleta County Senior Center, Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program, Axis Health System, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County, Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center, Pagosa Youth Center, San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging, Seeds of Learning, Tri-County Head Start and Volunteers of America.
