Thingamajig Theatre Company has opened registration for the spring acting and playwriting classes for kids ages 7-12.
The first class that is held every Friday from 2-3:30 p.m. is full, but the theatre company has opened up a second class every Friday from 3:30-5, due to high interest.
Classes start Feb. 3 and end on April 20 with a performance for the public on April 27 and 28. The class costs only $100 per student and involves teaching acting skills through fun and engaging games, as well as creating a collaborative environment in which the students write a play together.
The class is taught by Laura Moore, the executive director of the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. Laura has experience teaching children’s theatre at the Backstage Theatre in Breckenridge, acting in the most renowned children’s theatre program in the state at the Arvada Center in Denver, as well as being the educational director for the Lake Dillon Theatre Summer Camp.
Laura has taught three kids playshop classes since the Pagosa theatre’s opening last spring. The first presented an original works by the kids called “Dream Magic.” The second was a three-week summer camp that focused on singing and dancing as the kids presented the Disney musical “Jungle Book.” The third took place last fall as the kids honed their acting skills while presenting “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” All performances took place in the professional setting of the Breaks Black Box Theatre in the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts.
Class space is limited. Please contact Laura Moore at (970) 507-0408 or e-mail her at email@example.com to see if there is still room available in the class.
Upon confirmation, you can visit our website at www.pagosacenter.org to download a registration form that can be dropped off at the Center or put in the mail.
