A Little Black Dress Affair, Seeds fund-raiser on March 3

It’s coming! It’s coming!

Seeds of Learning presents A Little Black Dress Affair Saturday, March 3, from 5-8 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center.

This year, you’ll enjoy a magical musical dance production guaranteed to make you kick up your heels.

All proceeds will go to Seeds of Learning.

Seeds of Learning is Pagosa Springs’ first accredited early care and education center. In August 2011, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) awarded Seeds accreditation status for meeting the early childhood best practice standards. Seeds of Learning’s mission is to provide high quality early care and education to children ages 18 months through age 5, regardless of family structure or income.

The cost per child per day is $52 or $12,480 per year. Approximately 80 percent of all families pay only $28 per day. Our annual operating budget is approximately $600,000. Only about 52 percent of total income is covered by tuition, which is charged on a sliding scale based on HUD guidelines. Additional funding comes from grants, individual donations and fund-raisers such as the Little Black Dress.

Seeds of Learning serves 45 children daily. Our vision at Seeds of Learning is to work in partnership with families and our community to provide a learning community in a developmentally appropriate environment, which promotes the growth of the “whole child” and instills a love of learning in all children. As a community-based facility, we encompass parenting classes, educational opportunities for our families and other early childhood professionals, as well as participate in community outreach projects.

Warm, supportive and respectful relationships between adults and children lie at the heart of good care for children. We believe early care and education centers can and must be a place where children, parents and caregivers alike can feel a sense of belonging, as if they are family. Healthy children and healthy families make healthy communities.

Please support Seeds of Learning by attending A Little Black Dress Affair, Saturday, March 3. Tickets are currently on sale at Seeds of Learning.
