What could get better than this? You can be a part of the most important fund-raising event of the year for the many worthwhile and important contributions that Rotary makes to this community.
Leading up to this important event, we have been reminding the community of some of the scholarship recipients we are so proud of. These students of exceptional talent and drive are attending institutions of their choice, partially with the support of Rotary.
This week would like to introduce you to Anna Ball, who is attending Colorado State University and studying natural resource recreation and tourism with a minor in business. Anna is reporting a 3.204 grade-point average and we could not be more pleased to support her efforts.
Another scholarship winner, Jeff Reardon, is attending New York University, and maintaining a GPA of 3.35 with a major in theater, and doing a great job.
As a community, we can actively support these hard working students and raise money to support members of the next class of graduating seniors who have this type of ambition.
Rotary does not just support scholarships: there are a number of other important programs that receive sustaining support each year. The programs are too numerous to list, but include the Pagosa Outreach Connection, as well as support for other educational efforts with teacher mini-grants and dictionaries for local third-graders.
Mark your calendars and get your tickets from Rotarians, at The Pagosa SUN office, Exit Realty or by calling Shellie Peterson at 264-2014.
The date is Feb. 11, the time is from 6 to 10 p.m., the location is the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse at 230 Port Ave. This is a festive event, so take the opportunity to dress up, or dress up “Pagosa style.” Do whatever you can best to enjoy this special and exciting night for Pagosa’s graduating students, and for the opportunity to contribute to the benefit of the Pagosa community.
