Photograph Your Work
This class is geared for artists that would like to start taking their own high-quality, professional pictures for documentation purposes and/or for presentation to galleries or online sales sites.
The information provided is also applicable to those that would simply like to learn more about photography for their own personal use, such as with the documentation of antique or fine art collections for insurance purposes.
Utilization of “off the shelf,” inexpensive alternatives to pricey photographic equipment will be at the core of this workshop.
This comprehensive, two-day course will take place Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 28 and 29, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. both days. Course fee: $195; includes use of studio equipment, computers, CD and misc. consumable materials, as needed.
No previous digital photo experience required.
Photograph Your Work is a high content, digital photographic workshop that is designed to expose artists to the methods necessary to capture, manipulate, save and send digital images of their work for use in the development of their professional careers.
This comprehensive “low impact” digital photo workshop is designed for artists that understand the importance of taking control of the presentation of their work.
The workshop will focus on lighting, exposure and depth of field, image/file formats, image cropping and image correction.
Photograph Your Work will cover the general principles of photographing both 2-D and 3-D works of art, with an emphasis on the accepted practices for submission requirements to juried competitions, publications and newspapers.
The preparation of images to be used in promotional materials and websites will also be discussed.
Coffee will present the material through both lecture and demonstrations.
Participants may bring up to three 2-D or 3-D pieces of their work to be photographed as part of the hands-on portion of the workshop.
Participants’ photos will be evaluated, corrected (if necessary) and saved to CD to be retained by the workshop participant for their personal use.
The techniques and processes that resulted from Coffee’s methodical trial and error over the course of the past 25 years in the documentation of artworks are the basis for the material to be presented in this valuable workshop.
