Children’s theatre class registration now open

The Thingamajig Theater Company’s registration is now open for the Whachamawhozit’s Children’s Spring Playshop.

Thingamajig Theatre has presented three Whachamawhozit productions since opening last April.  The first was a student-written play entitled “Dream Magic.” The second production was the Disney musical “The Jungle Book” and was performed by the kids at the three-week summer camp. In December, the talented kids put on a stage version of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”

The Spring Playshop is an exciting and fun 12-week workshop in which the children learn acting skills as they write, rehearse and perform an original play in professional theater space. The Whachamawhozit’s schedule follows this pattern: in the spring, kids write their own play, in the summer the three-week camp builds a Fourth of July float and performs a Disney musical, and the fall features the kids performing a piece adapted for the stage.

Playshop is taught by seasoned actress and director Laura Moore who has performed in and taught children’s theatre all over Colorado and throughout the Northwest.  Playshop is open to ages 7 through12. The cost is $100 per child.

Class will take place on Fridays from 2-3:30 p.m.  Class starts on Feb. 3 and runs to April 20. There will be no rehearsal on April 6 due to Spring Break.

The performances will take place on April 27 and 28.

You must tell Laura Moore if your child cannot attend the final performances when you register for class.

Classes typically fill up quickly and space is limited.  Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To register call Laura Moore at The Thingamajig Theatre at (970) 507-0408 or e-mail her at laura@pagosacenter.org. Upon confirmation of your registration, please complete the registration form that can be found on the website www.pagosacenter.org and mail it, along with your check to The Thingamajig Theatre, 2313 Eagle Drive, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.
