PhotoShop Basics

This introductory PhotoShop course will take place on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Course fee: $90; includes use of studio equipment as needed.

PhotoShop Basics is also designed for those with PhotoShop experience, and serves as a great refresher course.

This valuable and fact-filled workshop will cover the general principles of PhotoShop manipulation specific to the needs of artists.

The information provided is also applicable to those that would simply like to learn more about PhotoShop for their own personal use.

Instruction will focus on image/file formats, image sizing, cropping, and image correction.

It will cover accepted practices for submission requirements to juried competitions, publications and newspapers (both online and hardcopy). The preparation of images to be used in promotional materials and website use will also be discussed.

Photograph Your Work

Are you an artist that would you like to start taking your own high-quality, professional pictures for documentation purposes and/or for presentation to galleries or online sales sites?

This two-day class will enable you to do exactly that, and more.

The information provided is also applicable to those that would simply like to learn more about photography for their own personal use, such as with the documentation of antique or fine art collections for insurance purposes.

Utilization of “off the shelf”, inexpensive alternatives to pricey photographic equipment will be at the core of this workshop.

This comprehensive two-day course will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 28 and 29, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. both days. Course fee: $195; includes use of studio equipment, computers, CD and misc. consumable materials, as needed.

No previous digital photo experience required.

Photograph Your Work is a high content, digital photographic workshop that is designed to expose artists to the methods necessary to capture, manipulate, save and send digital images of their work for use in the development of their professional careers.

This “low impact” digital photo workshop is designed for artists who understand the importance of taking control of the presentation of their work.

The workshop will focus on lighting, exposures and depth of field, image/file formats, image cropping and image correction.

Photograph Your Work will cover the general principles of photographing both 2-D and 3-D works of art, with an emphasis on the accepted practices for submission requirements to juried competitions, publications and newspapers.

The preparation of images to be used in promotional materials and websites will also be discussed.

D. Michael Coffee will present the material through both lecture and demonstrations.

Participants can bring up to three 2-D or 3-D pieces of their work to be photographed as part of the “hands-on” portion of the workshop.

Participants’ photos will be evaluated, corrected (if necessary) and saved to CD to be retained by the workshop participant for their personal use.

The techniques and processes that resulted from Coffee’s methodical trial and error over the course of the past 25 years in the documentation of artworks are the basis for the material to be presented in this valuable workshop.
