Parents desire that their children be thankful for what they have and care for other people.
This Saturday, Nov. 19, there is a perfect opportunity for kids to experience that. Local kids, elementary through high school, can come fill Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes for less fortunate children .
The annual Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Packing Party is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at CrossRoad Christian Fellowship on Park Avenue, adjacent to the PLPOA Recreation Center.
With the support of local churches, businesses and lots of volunteers, kids can learn how joyful it is to help others. Shoe boxes from the event will distributed in Mexico or Haiti this year.
The free event starts at 10 a.m. and participants can drop in anytime between 10 and 1. An adult must accompany children under 12.
Kids will enjoy learning about Operation Christmas Child and packing shoe boxes with toys, school supplies and hygiene items that are provided. They even get to choose an adorable Beanie Baby or a handmade sock doll for the shoe box. Homemade cookies at the finish will be a reminder of the sweetness of giving and helping others.
