On Sunday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m., the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist will continue our Religious Exploration program.
Unitarian Universalism is a faith that is supported by principles rather than dogma. The Seven Principles are in turn supported by Six Sources.
The topic for November will be humanist teachings, which draws on Source Five, “Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit.”
We will explore the meaning of the term “humanism” and the contents of the Humanist Manifesto of 1933. We’ll discuss what may have prompted this worldview, and how the humanist movement continues to influence Unitarian Universalism.
Please bring a brown bag lunch and take part in a lively discussion and exchange.
There is a suggested donation of $10 to support our Religious Exploration program.
