Wild Spirit Gallery to host holiday fund-raiser

On Dec. 1, Wild Spirit Gallery and local artist Paula Jo Miller will team up again for the annual Art for the Animals — an opening that raises money for Pagosa Animal Advocates (PAA).

“This is a great example of how Pagosa businesses can support Pagosa non-profits,” said Madeline Lyon, Wild Spirit Gallery owner and PAA board member. “We’re excited to show Paula’s work again this year. Last year, Paula sold seven of her ten paintings and donated 100 percent of her proceeds to PAA. That donation has gone a long way to helping local animals in need.”

Miller is a local abstract artist and also PAA’s board president. “I’m proud to be involved in this annual event,” Miller said. “Last year we raised close to four thousand dollars. It was heartwarming to see so many people come out to support PAA’s efforts. Not to mention, we had a lot of fun!”

Building on the success of last year’s event, Art for the Animals will feature live holiday music by Bob Hemenger, a variety of holiday appetizers, festive holiday drinks, and sinfully delicious desserts by Sugar High.

“Last year’s guests told us they really enjoyed getting dressed up and kicking off the holidays at our event,” said Miller. “This year is going to be even better with live music, fantastic auction items, and swanky SWAG for each attendee. This is going to be one holiday party you won’t want to miss.”

Pagosa Animal Advocates

Donations for this event will go directly to PAA’s Second Chances Program.

This unique program rescues, fosters and finds homes for special needs and elderly pets that have been abused or abandoned due to owner death or illness.

Currently, PAA has five animals in its care.  Because PAA is an all-volunteer organization, nearly 100 percent of donations received pay for the animals’ medical care, feeding and shelter. PAA desperately needs financial assistance and foster homes for these five animals. If you would like to be a foster, call PAA at 903-2300.  And please make a donation at www.pagosaanimaladvocates.org. Every amount is an enormous help and will give these animals the second chance they deserve.
