Amanda Julia Baca Martinez Rivas Stollsteimer was sent to this earth by the Lord on July 4, 1917, in Arboles, Colo. On Oct. 26, 2011, the Lord called his angel home to rest.
Amanda had a long, full life and was always surrounded by many friends and family. She is predeceased by her parents Anton “Tony” and Genoveva Stollsteimer. Also preceding her in being called home are her siblings Frances Lujan, Fred, Henry and Christino Stollsteimer. Having lived such a long life, a few of her children were called home to God before her. They were Grace Lister-Vigil, Johnny Baca, Lala Candalaria Martinez, Andy Martinez, Joe Baca and Henry “Hank” Rivas, as well as a grandchild, Abel Lister.
There are many people that Amanda is leaving behind that will miss her immensely. Amanda is survived by her siblings: Delfine (Mercy) Stollsteimer and Stella Stollsteimer-Martinez. She also leaves her loving children: Albert (Claira) Rivas, Lala (Jim) Willingham, Ernesto (Lisa) Rivas, Freddie (Pauline) Rivas, Joseph Sr. (Wanda) Rivas, Leroy (Molly) Cotton, Tony Raw (Renae) Rivas and daughter-in-law (wife to late Henry) Marie Rivas. There are also numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many more extended family and friends.
The Rosary for Amanda was held Nov. 1, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2011, at Saint John Paul the Second. Amanda was laid to rest in Hilltop Cemetery immediately following.
