Pagosa Lakes Porpoises start short course season

The Pagosa Lakes Porpoises swimmers are at it again.

The team had its first meet of the short course season last weekend in Durango.

Fabi Acevedo-Auli, V.V. Acevedo-Auli, Lynelle Bartz, Sophia Raymond and Owen Sutton represented the Porpoises, with personal records set by each swimmer.

Some of the highlights of the meet included Fabi competing in her first 200-yard breaststroke, V.V. with an awesome 100-yard butterfly and Owen swimming a great 50 free.

Sophia and Lynelle swam in their first meet with the Porpoises and did well. Sophia competed in the 50-yard breaststroke, 50- and 100-yard frees, as well as the 100 individual medley. Lynelle competed in the 25-yard freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.

The Pagosa Lakes Porpoises started practicing for the winter season two weeks ago. Swimmers practice at the Pagosa Lakes Recreation Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m.
