Ladies, get out those calendars and pens, and put this down!
Attend the first annual Fashion Weekend kickoff event, 6 p.m. Thursday Nov. 3, at the Ross Aragon Community Center.
This holiday season kickoff event is going to be spectacular!
The first annual Fashion Weekend begins with a social hour (catered by Alley House, with a cash bar hosted by Rotary members) and a program by T.J. Reid, Southern belle and women’s humorist, author and fashion guru.
You’ll be treated to a review of the latest trends in fashion and accessories, and have the opportunity to buy chances to win fabulous clothing, jewelry and accessory items, including three $500 gift certificates to Happy Trails.
This year’s recipients of the event proceeds are Head Start (for much-needed playground equipment) and the Pagosa Springs Youth Center.
Let me tell you about our local Head Start center.
The Pagosa Springs Head Start/Early Childhood Center is an early learning preschool and child care center that enrolls 3- to 4 year-old children who are income eligible for Head Start (a federally-funded program for low-income families), Colorado Preschool, and/or child care assistance through the Archuleta County Department of Human Services.
The program started in Pagosa Springs in 1965 as a summer program in the Catholic Church parish hall.
Currently the Center has 48 children attending full day/full year, school day/school year, or part day/part year. Children of working families are able to attend year round so families are able to maintain employment.
The citizens of Pagosa Springs are fortunate to have an established, well-developed community resource with a dedicated staff to help parents with the early developmental period so crucial to the long-term well being of their children.
But, the playground needs playground equipment. So, the benefits that wil come as a result of the upcoming show will be used for a needed addtion to the Center.
Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased at Happy Trails or the Chamber of Commerce office.
Please join us for this special event, have a great time and help support institutions that do so much for our young people.
