Seems there’s a designated month for everything.
In addition to those scary ghosts and gobblins, October is Non-GMO month. Chances are, you’ve heard this term and wondered why some people are concerned about GMOs in the human and animal food supply.
GMO means Genetically Modified Organism. GM corn and soybeans are already present in our food supply. Government agencies like the FDA, USDA and EPA seem to want consumers kept in the dark when it comes to GMOs. Many years ago, a top Monsanto attorney said that properly labeling packages containing GMO foods would be like , “putting a skull and crossbones on it.”
Why should you be concerned about GMOs in your child’s dinner and your own?
Jeffery Smith, author of “Seeds of Deception” and “Genetic Roulette” has devoted many years to researching GMOs and shares his knowledge with us in this fast paced movie. He has also produced the “Non-GMO Shopping Guide,”a great tool for learning how to avoid purchasing GMOs at the grocery store.
Join Southwest Light and Learning Center’s screening of “Hidden Dangers in Kid’s Meals” on Friday, Oct. 28, 7 p.m. at the Pagosa Lodge and learn how to protect your children and yourself. After the movie, we will have a lively discussion group.
