As I sit at my computer considering what I could share to encourage all the readers of Pagosa Springs, it occurred to me that most of us would agree that we find ourselves in a different time, confronted with vastly different values.
Politically, things are like we’ve never seen them before. Values seem to be nonexistent, it is hard for many to even recognize our country.
We are at a place where we need to really trust God for all our needs.
Our gospel is summed up in two words,“but God.“ No matter how difficult things look in this world, be comforted by the fact that God is not caught off guard. He has us right in his hands, to guide us and keep us from harm’s way. I truly believe He is able to provide us with all we need.
Jeremiah 29:11&12 says: “For I know what I have planned for you, says the Lord. I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you, I have plans to give you a future filled with hope, when you call out to me and come to me in prayer I will hear your prayers.”
What an awesome promise, to provide and guide. Some people might think, “He will not hear my prayers because of the things I have done.” Nothing could be farther from the truth. We are the children of the Most High God. You can do nothing that would turn God away from you. Look what the scripture says about God’s anger. Isaiah 54:9: “As far as I (God) am concerned, this is like in Noah’s time, when I vowed that the waters of Noah’s flood would never again cover the earth. In the same way I have vowed that I will not be angry at you, or shout at you.”
We know that God won’t flood the earth again, but are we sure He is not angry? It says right here that He is not! How we perceive God is how we will approach Him.
Come boldly to the throne.
Jesus almost always referred to Him as “Father.” Only once, on the cross, did Jesus call Him “God,” as He received God’s wrath in our place. Jesus was trying to get man (us) to see the true compassion and commitment our Father has toward mankind.
Psalms 8:4 asks, “Of what importance is the human race that you should notice them, of what importance is mankind that you should pay attention to them or be ever mindful of them?”
Yet, He is just that, mindful. He loves us and is totally committed to our well being. Jesus is the reflection of the mindset of Papa. Jesus walks in the fullness of who Papa really is. Jesus provided, He healed, He was compassionate, full of grace, and commitment. So much so that He willingly died on the tree and was cursed.
He said, “If you have seen me you have seen the Father.” Look at the scriptures and see the life of Jesus; He is the exact reflection of Papa. Jesus was not angry, nor is God.
Sin is not the problem. It does not get between you and Papa, you get between you and Papa. Call out on Him and pray; He will hear your prayers. Papa does love you. He will provide in the times to come, good or bad, it does not matter to Papa.
2 Peter 1-4 reveals, “He has already given you all things pertaining unto life and godliness.”
How about Romans 8:32? “He that spared not his own son, but delivered Him up for us ALL how shall He not with Him also freely, freely give us all things.” How precious this is to me.
I ask, and freely Papa gives.
Get your eyes off the times. They are what they are. Rest in the knowledge that Papa is in love with you and cares for you. Go have lunch, celebrate with Papa and let Him freely give you all things in Jesus name.
