Mountain View Homemakers will meet 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Extension Building at the fairgrounds.
There will be a covered dish lunch at noon. All area woman are invited to attend; visitors are not expected to bring food.
Since this is the last meeting before Halloween, all are asked to bring candy or other trick-or-treat handouts. Kim Vernon will be charged with the distribution of these items to young ghosts and goblins.
The program for the day will be by Joan Ward, who has a Ph.D. in nutrition. Her program will be “Nutritional Needs of Women’s Changing Bodies.” As women, our bodies require a variety of foods as we go through many different stages: teen years, young woman, pregnancy, motherhood, menopause and beyond.
A short business meeting and reports on the club’s many community efforts will follow.
The Homemakers organization is a monthly gathering of women who are interested in making the lives of their families and their community more livable. The meetings include lunch and either enlightening speakers or a hands-on community project. One auction fund-raiser every summer results in contributions to eight or nine local non-profit efforts. There are no dues or membership requirements and every interested woman will be welcomed.
