Our family is incredibly grateful for the love and tangible support you’ve “showered” us with over the years, especially the past 11 months while Tom battled cancer.

Grace Church, thank you for embracing us physically and spiritually. You walked with us through a very difficult time in our lives. You were there every step of the way. You touched our hearts and lives by mowing our lawn, caring for our pets, fixing us meals, cleaning our house, visiting us in the hospitals and emergency rooms, and helping pay bills. You prayed for, truly loved, comforted and encouraged us.

Archuleta school board members, staff and families, thank you for graciously extending me a leave of absence so that I could be with and care for my husband. Time is a gift and this time was and is truly a precious gift. To the district teachers and staff, especially my elementary co-workers and friends, thank you for your constant commitment to the well being of others. You pour your time and energy into the lives of other people’s children daily. In addition, you generously gave and have loved and cared for my family over the years.

Pagosa Mountain Hospital, Pagosa Springs Family Medical Center, EMT paramedics, Mercy Hospital, Home Health Care, and Hospice teams, especially Dan Keuning, Dr. James Pruitt, Dr. Carol Nasralla, Rachel Liverett and Judy Smith, thank you for your professional medical care. You are my heros.

Visiting Angels, my mom, April, my brother, Chris, and my sister-in-law, Michele, you truly were our family’s Angels and still are.

My Three Amigos and Faithful Friends, Casey Ketchum, Debbie Moore and Amy Fair, you are the “wind beneath my wings.” Thank you for “carrying” me and caring for my family and me.

My life is not measured by earthly treasures but by the people, friendships, and family, that enrich my life each and every day.

With grateful hearts,

Carolyn Riedberger and family

Thanks to Pagosa Springs Medical Center.

Too often, people write a letter to the paper to complain. This letter is to report a very positive experience at our local hospital.

No one “expects” a trip to the emergency room; however, when it happens, it is certainly nice to have a good result. I went to the ER with pain and a fever … got a very quick diagnosis with the new CT scan and was scheduled for surgery the next morning. Dr. Shaeffer, assisted by his wife, Dr. Reiss-Holt, performed an appendectomy, and I was given excellent care. I want to say thanks to Dr. Galloway in the ER and all of the staff who made my emergency trip to the hospital as pleasant as it could be. We are very fortunate to have this quality treatment available in Pagosa Springs.

I would like to thank the Pagosa Mountain Hospital emergency room staff and Dr. Phillips for their skillful and caring treatment of my husband, David.? A thanks to Dr. Jim Pruitt and the hospice staff here in Pagosa as well.? We were treated by all like family.? Not numbers on a bracelet, but individuals, part of the community.? A Pagosa gift.?
