A recruitment event for Rollergirls in Pagosa is set for Saturday, Oct. 8, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Pagosa Springs Youth Center (the old Powerhouse facility, below the Humane Society Thrift Store) on Pagosa Street.

New skaters, volunteers, referees and non-skating officials (NSO’s) are urged to participate.

There are plenty of good reasons to attend:

• Just come skate. We got gear!

• Meet and greet Rollergirls in Pagosa league members.

• Find out how you can become a member of R.I.P.

• Learn the basic rules and strategy of roller derby play.

• After Party at the Bear Creek.

Has it been a decade or two since you have skated?

No problem. We’ve got skates, gear to borrow and a lot of help to offer.

You will need wrist guards, elbow and knee pads, a helmet and mouth guard.
