An Oklahoma motorcyclist died as a result of a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 84 on Sept. 8.
According to a Colorado State Patrol accident report, Michael V. Burns, 58, of Davis, Okla. was traveling northbound at milepoint 12.8 on the highway when his motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road and spun one-quarter time, going a distance of 77 feet.
Burns’ motorcycle became airborne for about 23 feet, then rolled an unknown number of times, ejecting the driver, the report indicates.
The motorcycle, a 2004 Suzuki VZ800, came to rest on its left side. Burns traveled 34 feet past the motorcycle and struck a fence, according to the report.
Archuleta County Coroner Carl Macht pronounced Burns dead at the scene at about 6:10 p.m.
