Catholic prayer group to meet

The Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group will meet Friday, Sept. 2, at  7 p.m. in the Catholic Church rectory, 135 Eaton Drive, No.1018.

Father Don Malin, Steve Van Horn and Bill Norton will be facilitators in praise and worship and Father Don will lead the teaching at the end.

The Charismatic Prayer meeting with spiritual charisms as found in 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12 are in evidence and encouraged. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal was founded in 1967 at Duchesne University with Catholic retreatants including a professor, graduate theology students and undergrads.  In one sovereign moment they were called to the Adoration Chapel where, upon arriving, each one received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They spoke in tongues and fell in ecstasy and began praising the Lord spontaneously.

The Charismatic movement has been waning in recent years in the U.S. but continues to grow in developed and developing countries in the rest of the world.

We will meet every week on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. at the rectory. All are welcome.

Call Pope John Paul II parish office with questions Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 731-5744.
