Do you salivate at the scent of a fresh salad? When you think of a salad, do you see the colors of the rainbow? Can you distinguish the different herbs in a fresh garden salad such as dill, basil, wild onion flowers? Can you recognize the taste of different berries in a mixed berry pie? I didn’t think so! I couldn’t either, until I met Jonni. Thank you, Jonni, my taste buds have never been so awake.
A trip to Heaven on Earth’s Farm Fest just south of Pagosa Springs was a unique adventure, one that we will remember for a long time. Jonnie and friends graciously took us around, explaining the many fascinating aspects of her organic farm and ranch. It was especially fun to see the look of excitement and understanding on the faces of young and old alike as they, for the first time, saw the link between garden and the kitchen table.
Jonnie has built her farm and ranch over the past 12 years without the convenience of electricity. Yes, she is off the grid. But she is right on with her organic farming and ranching skills. Her many examples of self-sufficiency are an inspiration for many of us.
My families and I want to extend a sincere thank you to Jonni McAteer for providing such a bright moment in our vacation. All except one of them are coming back next summer. Move over, Jonni, Darlene is moving in!

A huge thank you to all who have assisted us in so many different ways in the last few weeks. You have been very supportive and helpful and we appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness. Immediately following our motorcycle accident, good things started to happen — friends stopped on the highway and started directing traffic, an out-of-town doctor stopped to help, ambulance and medical services were great, the police forces were very helpful, friends brought meals to us, transported Barb to and from work, ran errands for us. The list goes on and on. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. You were there for us when we needed you and we are very grateful. Thanks again.

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library board would like to thank all those who volunteered their time to make our annual book sale a success: The many volunteers who helped with setting up on Friday and tearing down on Saturday; Lee Riley for the loan of his truck; the firefighters for their labors; Warren Grams for driving the truck; Silver Dollar and Plaza Liquors for saving all those flats; Jenifer Lindberg and her boy scouts; Ryley Gardener who donated his time and his truck; all the Friends members for the delicious food they donated on Friday night. Last, but not least, thanks to all those who donated books and all those who purchased them.
