Wendy Ann Blue died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at home surrounded by family.
Born in Hawthorne, Calif., Nov. 23, 1953, Wendy was the first daughter and third child to Richard and Evalee Miller. They went on to have two more children. From an early age, she loved animals and her four brothers and sister. She was most likely a mother in training from an early age, with her mother also suffering from HD. After graduating high school in 1972 and meeting her husband, Randy Blue, she became a teacher. Randy and Wendy wed May 29, 1976, and later moved to Chatsworth, Calif. Wendy taught kindergarten for 13 years in the public school system.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Randy Blue, and their four children, Carrie Blue, Kimberly Blue, Kevin Blue and Katie Mae Blue. In 1989, she decided to open her own home-based business, Blue Acres Day Care. She successfully juggled her own business while still being a very dedicated mother. She was courageous, determined and a real driving force. She did what she said, and she said what she meant.
In 1996, the family decided to move to Pagosa Springs, Colo. While in Pagosa, Wendy enjoyed spending her time in the back country, going for drives and watching the kids play anything.
Wendy was always positive and looking for solutions to fight the good fight. She had a strong faith and is our inspiration and hero! She will always live in our spirits and memories. Wendy, may you continue to rest peacefully. We love and miss you so very much!
The family would also like to thank everyone who donated. We were able to pay all costs for Wendy’s memorial and raise extra money for Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA). You can make donations to help find a cure at Bank of the San Juans for “Wendy’s Memorial” or online at www.hdsa.org/donations.html for a tax deductible donation. All donations from Wendy’s memorial account will be donated on Dec. 31, 2011. Thanks for your help and continued support.
