Art in the Garden on Saturday

The public is invited to attend a wonderful afternoon of fine art, live music and gourmet food with a western flair at the fourth annual Art in the Garden Festival.

The event will be held this Saturday, Aug. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the home of Pac and Flo Pacarzina. It is a beautiful setting in Chris Mountain Ranches, located west of Pagosa Springs, off of U.S. 160; it is the next right after Trails Boulevard. A tour of the home’s interior is included this year. Guests will also enjoy a quilt display by award-winning quilter, Cindy Hamilton. The ambiance will help demonstrate the theme, “Memories of the Old West.”

Tickets are on sale now for $40 each, at Nello’s Bistro, the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, and online at: All proceeds are donated to the Community Assistance Fund, to help those in need in Archuleta County.

There will be 18 talented artists demonstrating their craft and displaying pieces available for purchase. Artists were selected by jurors Margaret Doell and Eugene Schilling; both are on the art department faculty at Adams State College in Alamosa. Many mediums will be represented this year, including oil, watercolor, sculpture, stained glass and more.

There will also be eight sets of live musical performances to entertain guests during the event. Tim Sullivan will open the event, and will be followed by Michael Joseph Thomas, Charles Martinez, the High Country Squares, Jason Rose Trio, Larry Baisden Brass Ensemble, Pagosa Springs Community Choir Jazz Ensemble, and Shane Tuller and Family. There will be CDs available for purchase. The artists and musicians have agreed to donate 30 percent of sales made at Art in the Garden to the Community Assistance Fund.

There will be delicious, freshly prepared food available all during the event. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. There is also an Art in the Garden Cookbook for sale that contains recipes from past events, with an insert covering this year’s menu.

Everyone is invited to enjoy this afternoon event, that showcases talented artists and musicians, as well as providing funds to help those in need.
