Archuleta County Fair Kids’ Rodeo results

The Archuleta County Fair Kids’ Rodeo was a huge success, thanks to some great sponsors and a lot of good help.

The results are as follows:

Braylon Cotts was our champion sheep rider.

Calf Riding: First, Taylor Cotts; Second, Carson Laverty.

Steer Riding: First, Tristan Martinez; Second, Preston Lucero.

Wild Cow Riding: First, Cody Snow; Second, Kyler McKee.

Chute Doggin’: First, Riley VanSoelen.

Barrel Racing:

6-10 age group:— First, McKenzie Watkins; Second, DeAnn Schaaf.

11-13 age group — First, Lane Schaaf, Second, Megan Farrah.

14-19 age group — First, Katelyn McRee; Second, Kelsi Lucero.

Hitchhiker Race: First, Cade VanSoelen/Rusty VanSoelen; Second, Katelyn McRee/ Caylin Chumley.

Pole Bending:

6-10 age group — First, McKenzie Watkins, Second, Kayson Shahan.

11-13 age group — First, Lane Schaaf; Second, Dalton Lucero.

14-19 age group — First, Katelyn McRee; Second, Kelsi Lucero.

Steerhide Drag: First, Riley VanSoelen/Robert Smith.

Ribbon Race:

6-10 age group — First, Kayson Shahan/DeAnn Schaaf; Second, Diana Scott/Blake Aragon.

11-13 age group — First, Lane Schaaf/Megan Farrah; Second, McKenna DeYapp/Lane Schaaf.

14-19 age group — First, Payton Shahan/Morgan Schaaf; Second, Katelyn McRee/Cayden Chumley.

Breakaway Roping: First, Cade VanSoelen; Second, McKenzie Watkins.

Team Roping: First, Rusty VanSoelen/Katelyn McRee; Second, Lane Schaaf/Cayden Chumley.

Family Ribbon Roping: First, Kyler and John McKee; Second, David and Tim McRee.

Thanks go to Nate Morehouse for allowing us to use his cows and calves for the wild cow and calf riding competitions. Thanks to J.R. Ford for providing the sheep for our mutton bustin’, and to Bob and Lisa Scott, of Scott Strategic Investments, for helping provide prizes for the rodeo. Thanks also to the Western Heritage Events Center Committee for allowing us to use their arena, as well as providing the belt buckle for our champion mutton buster. A special thank you goes out to all of those who helped put the rodeo on; please know you are truly appreciated.
