Golfers invited to ‘chip in’ for United Way

The 13th annual United Way Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Pagosa Springs Golf Club.

The format will be a four-person scramble and will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

Two different flights — Championship and “Just-For-Fun” — will be offered, as well as various contests, prizes and giveaways.

The entry fee is $100 per player for the Championship flight and $75 per person for the “Just-For-Fun” flight. This includes green fees, cart, continental breakfast, lunch by The Pines restaurant, and prizes of various golf packages and other golf-related items.

Golfers can enter as a team or as individuals by calling United Way at 731-0484.

All golfers are encouraged to participate in the event and to register as soon as possible for this fun day on the course, which will benefit a multitude of worthy organizations in Pagosa Springs.

This golf tournament is the primary fund-raising event for the county’s United Way campaign and 99 percent of all funds raised stay in our county. Local fund-raising benefits 18 local agencies that address education, self-reliance and health needs in the county, including: American Red Cross, Archuleta County Education Center, Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program, Axis Health System, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girl Scouts of Colorado, Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County, Housing Solutions for the Southwest, Pagosa Outreach Connection, Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center, Pagosa Waldorf Initiative, Promoting Prevention Coalition, San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging, San Juan Basin Health Smile Makers Dental Program, Seeds of Learning, Southwest Conservation Corps, Tri-County Head Start and Volunteers of America Southwest Safehouse.
