Drive to be held to benefit local food banks

A community food pantry drive will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, with organizers hoping to fill a wish list for local food banks.

The drive will take place at The Outfitter Department Store, located at U.S. 160 and Pike Drive, on Put Hill.

The Outfitter Department Store and Queen Bee are asking Pagosans to join them in providing items for our local food banks. There is a huge need in our area that grows monthly, especially during school summer vacation.

With this food drive, all four local food banks will receive donations. If you would like a tax deduction and would like to give via check, you can make it out to the church of your choice with “food pantry” next to the name. The churches involved are Community United Methodist Church, Pope John Paul II Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and Restoration Fellowship.

Below is the wish list.

Toilet paper.

Paper towels.

Dish detergent.

Cereal.

Jelly.

Peanut butter.

Powdered milk.

Boxes of mac and cheese.

Canned fruit.

If you can, please bring an item with you to The Outfitter on Aug. 13; we will give you a small gift in appreciation of your donation.
