Bob Pargin grew up on the lower Piedra and attended the Piedra country school.? He graduated from high school in Durango, Colorado.? Bob had great regard for his family heritage.? His great-grandparents, Dan and Serelda Pargin, came to the San Juan Basin in covered wagons in 1876.? Bob’s grandparents, Doll and Leona Pargin, settled on the Piedra, and his parents, Leon and Myrtle Pargin, ranched on the Piedra also.
After attending college, Bob joined the Air Force and was a pilot until retirement.? He served his country with honor and distinction, flying 30 missions in Vietnam.
Bob is survived locally by his son Boo (Karen), grandchildren Ben and Ava and a cousin, Dolly Dillinger; daughter Kay Blevins of Utah; brother Doyle (and family) and Jean Daniels Pargin (mother of Boo and Kay) of New Mexico; a large number of friends and family in the San Juan Basin and also many friends in Arizona, where Bob spent his winters.? He will be missed. A private memorial is planned.
