On Sunday, July 10, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will not be holding a service in Pagosa Springs.
Instead, it will be participating in the annual Four Corners Unitarian Universalist Retreat worship service held at beautiful Pine Song, near Vallecito Lake.
This lovely riverside facility, which includes an award winning tree farm, is owned by Ken and Lois Carpenter, who make it available each year for this event.
A catered breakfast is offered from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. (cost $5), and the service starts at 10: 30 a.m..
Retreat leader Denny Davidoff is a former moderator of the national Unitarian Universalist Association, as well as senior consultant and director of Development and Alumni Affairs for the Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago. Her close friend, the Reverend Olivia Holmes, minister of the First UU Society of Burlington, Vt., will share presentation of the Sunday service.
Directions from Pagosa Springs: On US 160, turn right (north) at Bayfield’s only traffic signal onto County Road 501 toward Vallecito Lake.
In a little over 12 miles you will see the Carpenters’ driveway and gate on the right. Next to the driveway is a green and white road sign that reads, “Welcome to Vallecito Recreation Area. Lettering on the gate, which will be hanging open, says “PINE SONG, 12758 County Road 501.” There will also be a sign indicating “Four Corners UU Retreat.”
Turn in and drive about .6 of a mile, where you will see the house in front of you, and on the right, a sign directing you to turn right to the retreat area.
You will soon come to the river, the log cabin, and the pavilion and camping area. Somewhere along that drive, please stop at the Sign-in/Name Badge/Registration Shelter.
There will be exciting activities for children of all ages, and all are welcome.
