CUMC and community, Part 1

This year’s Fourth of July Parade focused on community.

The people of the Community United Methodist Church are also focused on community. We are offering those in the community, both our church family and the community around us, an opportunity to learn about the opportunities in our area for those who are in need of hope for their future.

A four-week series will begin Monday, July 11, at 5:45 p.m. with a panel discussion of affordable housing and subsidized housing.

Do you know, for example, that there are four subsidized housing complexes in and around Pagosa Springs? Three of the four are located in the downtown area.

Do you know who directs them and how many units are available?

If you answered “no” to either of those questions, perhaps you might think about attending.

Mayor Ross Aragon, Archuleta County Commission Chairman Clifford Lucero and Cindi Galabota, director of Habitat for Humanity, will make up the first panel in the series.

If you are interested and care about housing issues then, this Monday, July 11 at the event at the Community United Methodist Church is for you.

Next week, the focus will be on community assistance and Pagosa Outreach Connection.
