Peter Schindler to direct St. Patrick’s choral workshop

Singers, it is time to warm up your voices and get ready to sing glorious music.

If you have been yearning to sing classic choral works, this workshop will surely bring you joy. Peter Schindler, choral director and vocal coach from Lewisville, Texas, will conduct a special choral workshop at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church on the weekend of July 15-17.

The music for the event will include excerpts from the beautiful “Gloria” by baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi.

This will be Schindler’s second workshop at St. Patrick’s and he is looking forward to returning to our beautiful venue to conduct Pagosa singers and teach singing methods that will help singers to produce their best sounds. Additionally, he will be bringing singers from his own choir to join with us. This is a kind of singing vacation for them, as they take in the beauty of Pagosa Springs and enjoy making music with Pagosa singers.

Teaching CDs will be available in the church office.

On Sunday afternoon, July 10, at 2 p.m., Sally Neel, organist and director of music at St. Patrick’s, will hold a pre-workshop read-through of the music in the church for those who would like to have a trial run singing through the music before Peter Schindler arrives.

The cost of the weekend workshop is only $25.

The first session will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 15.

Please call the church office at 731-5801 to register, or e-mail Sally Neel at sneel1@sbcglobal.net. There are no age limits, but some experience in choral singing is a plus.
