Plein air painting workshops to be held prior to national show

A Plein Air Workshop Series is planned in Pagosa Springs Saturday, July 30, through Monday, Aug. 1, in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters 2011 National Show at Wild Spirit Gallery, to be held in Pagosa Springs Aug. 5-7.

Join with nationally recognized artists for expert instruction, guidance and critique as you paint on location in the beautiful Pagosa Springs area .

Join any or all of the one-day workshops.

Cost is $100 per workshop. All instruction will be in plein-air oil painting.

Saturday, July 30, features Teresa Vito. An accomplished portraitist, still-life, and landscape painter, Teresa brings a vibrant, enthusiastic energy to her painting and her instruction. As an experienced instructor, she will help you infuse your work with vitality and color through a loose, spontaneous approach to painting. (

Sunday, July 31, features Jeanne Mackenzie. Jeanne is an experienced instructor whose style of painting is a blend of impressionism and realism. Her approach is based in developing the skill of “seeing” your subject with a discerning eye, and then applying the fundamentals of composition, color and values to translate that visual information into expressive paintings full of warmth and light. (

Monday, Aug. 1 features Aaron Schuerr. A dedicated plein-air painter, Aaron is known for creating work possessed of a quiet intimacy. Through the use of color and value, he will help you achieve the sensitive rendering of light and mood in your paintings. (

Students must provide their own equipment, materials, food and lodging.

Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from workshop locations.

A supply list and location list for each class will be sent upon registration.

Each instructor will determine their own class size. Slots are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration deadline is July 20. Mailed forms must be postmarked no later than this date.
