Lend a hand — volunteer at The Den

As many of you are already aware, our program coordinator, Jodi Starr, has accepted another position with the county. We miss her dearly and wish her much success in her new adventure.

With the current plight of the county having to make difficult budgetary decisions, I have opted not to fill Jodi’s program coordinator position which in turn gives me, as director, some added duties; therefore, I am asking for your help.

If you have presentations or activities that you would like to see provided at The Den or know of someone who would be willing to do so for us at no charge, contact me at 264-2167. So far, I’ve heard from some of you party animals that you would like to play more poker; I need a volunteer or two to run poker. I’d love to hear from you with your fun ideas.

Picnic in the Park

Yes, folks, it’s that time of year again, time for our series of Picnic in the Park. We’ll be serving up burgers for our first picnic in Town Park, Friday, June 24. As usual, there is a $3 suggested donation for our senior folk age 60-plus. Reservations are absolutely, positively required no later than Tuesday, June 21. You won’t want to miss out. You’ll be entertained by Johnny K and Natalie and, of course, our nutty staff. Join in the fun; make your reservation by calling Rob at 264-2167.

Medicare 101

New to Medicare or about to be? Monday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m., in the Den’s lounge, one of our Medicare counselors will help you navigate through all the ins, outs and peculiarities of this complex program. Call Rob at 264-2167 to reserve your seat at this informative session.

The 2011 General Enrollment for Medicare Prescription Plans (Part D) and Medicare Advantage Plans has changed to Oct. 15-Dec. 7, 2011.
