Nine members of the Pagosa Lakes Porpoise Swim Team traveled to Cortez last week to compete in the annual Leopard Shark Invitational.
Competing in the 9-10 age division, Savannah Unger swam the 50- and 100-meter backstroke events, the 50 freestyle and the 50 breaststroke.
Owen Sutton, Keanan Anderson, Will Meyer and Andie Miller represented the Porpoises in the 11-12 age group.
Sutton competed in the 100 Individual Medley, the 100, 200 and 400 freestyle events, the 50 and 100 butterfly, and the 50 and 100 backstroke.
Anderson competed in the 200 Individual Medley, the 50 butterfly, the 50 and 100 backstroke, the 50 and 100 breaststroke and the 50 freestyle.
Meyer, new to the swim team this season, competed in the 50 free and the 100 backstroke. He placed 10th in the 50 breaststroke, finishing in 1:30.22.
Miller performed very well in her first meet of the season, placing in the top 16 in the 50 fly, the 50 and 100 backstroke, the 50 and 100 breaststroke, and the 50-, 100- and 200-meter freestyle.
Katie Armbrecht and Emily Bryant competed in the senior (15 and Over) division.
Armbrecht placed first in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle and second in the 200 and 400 Individual Medley, and the 50 and 100 free. She also swam the 100 breaststroke, the 100 backstroke and the 100 fly.
Bryant finished in the top five in 200 IM, the 100 fly, the 100 back, the 100 breaststroke, and the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle.
Representing the Porpoises in the male senior division, Austin Miller placed first in the 400 IM, the 100 fly and the 200 fly. He also swam the 400 free, the 200 IM, the 100 back, the 100 free, the 50 free, the 200 back, the 100 breaststroke and the 200 free.
Dane Murdock competed in the 200 IM, the 100 back, the 200 breast, the 100 free, the 50 free and the 100 breaststroke.
The Porpoises will take a weekend off before traveling to Farmington June 25-26.
