Margaret O. Hendricks, 83, a homemaker, of Henderson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2011. She was born on June 10, 1927, and was a 42- year resident of Nevada.
Margaret was born and raised in Pagosa Springs, where she met and married Mike (“Bill”) Hendricks. They spent their early years enjoying the beauty of Pagosa where they loved to fish and the family owned and operated a small gas station.
After moving to Henderson, Margaret helped out by waitressing at various restaurants. When she was no longer able to waitress due to health conditions, she would drive senior citizens to their doctor appointments. She loved helping others. She loved all of her family, being the fourth oldest of seven children. When her health was declining, she would love to attend any and all of the “family events,” being a big highlight for her. “Aunt La-La” was what all the family referred to her as.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Pat Martinez, Joyce Lucero and Veronica Farrell, who so lovingly took care of Margaret after Mike passed away. They would also like to thank “Bella” and her staff at the Beehive Homes in Las Vegas who took such wonderful care of their mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William N. Hendricks, and her granddaughter, Hayley L. Hendricks.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Gabriel (Barbara) Hendricks of Pagosa Springs, and Gomesindo, “Dr. Jerry” (Bobbi) Hendricks of Henderson, Nev. Grandchildren, Jeffrey Hendricks, Jennifer “Chicky” Hendricks, Jessica Hendricks, Jeri Melinkovich (Clayton), Jaylin Hendricks, Gabriel Hendricks, and two great-grandchildren, Natalie Hendricks, and Roxanne Melinkovich.
Funeral services were held at St. Peters Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Hwy. in Henderson, on Thursday, May 12, 2011. She was buried alongside her husband, Mike, at the Veterans cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.
