The pre-decisional Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Pagosa Creek Forest Vegetation Management Project is now available for public review and comment. The EA can be downloaded from the San Juan National Forest projects web site at: www.fs.usda.gov/goto/sanjuan/projects

The Pagosa Creek Analysis Area is located approximately 14 miles northwest of Pagosa Springs, Colorado in portions of Township 37 North, Ranges 2 and 3 West, NMPM. In ponderosa pine, thinning would be used. In mixed conifer, spruce-fir and aspen stands, a combination of thinning, coppice cuts and group selection would be used. In addition, the proposal would thin understory trees or shrubs via a variety of means (slashing, mowing, and/or chipping/chip removal).

To be eligible to appeal the subsequent decision on this project, an individual or group must provide comment or otherwise express interest (36 CFR 215.11 (pre-2003 regulations)) in the proposed action during the comment period.
