Do you ever feel like you’ve spent your entire life decorating your house?
Well, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
This old, factual saying implies it takes a long time to do an important job. All things take time to create. And great things — like building a home, remodeling, or a new landscape project — require time and patience.
Attending the Pagosa Springs Home and Garden Show will be the start of creating your footprint in Pagosa Springs. Learn how you, the conscientious consumer, can save valuable time and energy. Home Show exhibitors have expertise in the best trade practices and practical applications to enhance your experience.
One of last year’s visitors to the Home and Garden Show commented, “I am amazed at the talent in Pagosa Springs in the construction industry.”
Another participant remarked, “I learned so much at the show — the quality and knowledge is outstanding. I can’t wait to start my new project.”
Make your house your dream home by visiting the builders and home improvement subs and contractors that will allow you to compare prices and products to add style and convenience to your home. Home improvement projects can be costly, so you should take time when planning the project and purchasing the products or other services. Browse the aisles and DREAM!
When you live in southwest Colorado, it makes sense to rely on people who know what works and what doesn’t work in a high altitude environment where temperatures can fluctuate from frigid to frightfully hot and moisture can show up even when the humidity is only 12 percent. The dedicated professionals who exhibit in the show are committed to helping you achieve success. Your dreams can be achieved with rather than by the exhibitors at the Home Show, allowing them to add a level of real world relevance to your learning experience.
Did you know 11 million Americans lost their homes in the USA in the last three years (statistic reported by the National Association of Home Builders)? Did you know Colorado is number 50 out of the 50 states for the lowest number of new homes constructed in 2010? In 2010 Pagosa Spring’s banks sold more homes than new construction! With 11 million Americans loosing their homes it will take five to seven years to rebuild their credit to then be ready to purchase or build a home again. In addition, families are moving in together to save money. These economic situations have placed a lot of stress on small communities like Pagosa Springs necessitating modifications in the construction industry for the local community. Homeowners are remodeling for several reasons: 1) to better accommodate larger families and, 2) to convert their house into rental property.
However, even in these tough economic times, residents of Pagosa Springs are remarkably resilient. We do what needs to be done to survive and thrive. Among the hardest hit in bad economic times are the non-profits. They need YOUR help. Volunteer! Rally around them! Did you know Pagosa Springs has between 106 to 120 non-profits? What an opportunity to provide support! If you have questions about affordable housing, visit the booth sponsored by Habitat for Humanity, Ask them questions or Volunteer!
The Builders Association, also a non-profit, has always been in Pagosa Springs to lend a hand. Did you know the Builders Association is consulted frequently before the BoCC or building and planning departments make decisions for the community? Did you know the Association was involved in three of the new fire stations and one addition by donating materials and labor that saved the community hundreds of thousands of taxpayers’ dollars? Did you also know the Builders Association built the gazebo and the bathrooms in Town Park, providing 100 percent of labor and materials; were a major contributor in both materials and labor with the building of the New Chamber of Commerce building; built the Kiosk for the Chamber in 2003; and, with the Boy Scouts built 50 picnic tables for Town Parks? And this is just a few of the contributions. The Builders Association of Pagosa Springs is dedicated and committed to helping Pagosa remain a lasting, livable, and prosperous community.
The previous 11 Pagosa Spring’s Home and Garden shows have helped you, the prudent homeowner, invest in general home improvement, home remodeling, and decor by putting all the furnishings, home improvement products, accessories and other services under one roof, making for a real “one-stop shopping” experience. Top professionals from a variety of industries will gather once again on May 21 and 22 at the High School and many of them will be offering show specials and discounts. All of this comes just in time to give your home a money-savings Spring makeover.
Education is a big part of the show again this year. Free 30-minute seminars provide short learning opportunities by experts for you to solve your construction problems and expand your choices. Each seminar will be followed by questions and answers and brochures to take home. Use this learning tool whether you are building, remodeling, landscaping, or decorating your home. The show seminars include community development initiatives, Archuleta County building and planning highlights, and presentations from 4CORE Office for Resource Efficiency, Crawlspace Science Pros The Roof Doctor, PBS Heating and Air, Homespun Comforts, Source Gas and LPEA.
The show provides entertainment for children, allowing adults time to browse. Children can play on the bouncy slide for free on the lawn outside the High School. Breakfast and lunch food items and a variety of beverages will be available. Don’t miss Colorado Cowboy Catering’s famous barbecue.
