Local-Matthew Nobles

Matthew Nobles, Pagosa Springs High School 2006, will graduate from Colorado School of Mines at its 137th commencement ceremony on May 13 with a B.S. in geological engineering on the Exploration track with a minor in economics. While at Mines, Matthew competed for four years on the MCLA men’s lacrosse team, coached the women’s lacrosse team for three years, served as an officer and active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Chapter, served as Vice President of the Association of Geoscience (AGS), and belonged to the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG). This past March, Matthew represented Mines on the prestigious 2011 Imperial Barrel Award team finishing second in the Rocky Mountain Region. After internships at Luminant Mining in Texas and Apache Corporation in Oklahoma, Matthew will join Apache Corporation in their new geologist rotation program starting in the mid-continent with his first assignment in Tulsa, Okla. Matthew is the son of Bill and Cindy Nobles.
