Cards of Thanks

Heart Beat Ball

The inaugural Heart Beat Ball in February was a huge success! The Board would like to thank Tari Woods for creating the concept and theme and for her tireless work putting the entire event together. Virtually everything was donated for the evening and special thanks go to Chirag Patel and The Pagosa Lodge for hosting this event. Additional thanks go to the restaurants and caterers that provided all the food: Alley House Grille, Austin’s BBQ, Bacci, Boss Hogg’s, Christine’s Cuisine, Colorado Cowboy Catering, Dorothy’s, DSP Pizza and Farrago’s. There were 48 businesses and organizations that provided auction items and Steve Levy and Bob Hite served as auctioneers. Wildflower Floral provided the table decorations that were also for sale. With total ticket sales and auction proceeds, the event raised just over $10,000. Thank you for your participation in the evening and showing your support for Pagosa Springs Medical Center. Look for the Heart Beat Ball in 2012!

Sincerely,

Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Foundation Board

Gustafson

How do you acknowledge people who go above and beyond what you expect of them? On the early cloudy morning of April 23, I thought I might have 11 volunteer friends from Aspen Springs who would pick up our one-mile obligation of trash on 160. When they started, there were five — suddenly there were 10, and the work was completed. I want to thank Laura and Clay, Bill and Karen, Wayne and Dianne, Kelly, Carolyn and John. Mona did a lot on her own because she works on Saturday and Ron earlier worked double duty getting a lot done on Friday, and then came back on Saturday.

I am excited to acknowledge at the trading post, Maria, who made long johns and glazed doughnuts and had them waiting, along with coffee when we finished. This was a wonderful gift.

Cattlemen’s Association

The La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen’s Association, the banquet committee and the scholarship recipients would like to thank everyone who donated items for the silent auction and also a big thank you to those of you who participated in the auction. The auction has been a great success over the years as a fund-raiser for the scholarships that have been awarded to graduating seniors. Thank you to all of those who purchased tickets for the banquet and dance, as well.

Just a reminder: be sure and mark your calendars July 30 for the chuckwagon cook off in Durango at the Senior Center Park in conjunction with the Fiesta.

A special thank you goes to Helen Moore for all the work she has done for the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen’s Association. Helen has served as a director for Archuleta County since the merger of Archuleta and La Plata counties cattlemen into one organization. She has always been available and ready to do more than her share. Just recently, she decided to step down as a director, and Gary Everett has been elected to fill the position. Her expertise and dedication will certainly be missed.

Week of the Young Child

The Archuleta Children’s Team (ACT) Council would like to thank everyone that participated in last week’s Week of the Young Child. First and foremost, we would like to thank Our Savior Lutheran for hosting almost the entire event. The Kid’s Fair, Night of the Young Child and Appreciation Dessert were all held there and we are very grateful. Thank you very much.

The Kid’s Fair was well attended and we would like to thank all the people that sponsored a booth, volunteers and parents that attended with their children. A big thank you to Kiwanis for serving the best hot dogs in the county.

A lot of dolls were displayed on Doll Day and we want to thank all the teachers that helped each child make their child-like replica and the businesses that posted them. Our children were well-represented that day.

Pagosa’s got talent! Night of the Young Child was a huge success. A great big thank you to all the instructors that have taught all these wonderfully talented young people and the kiddos that performed.

The early childhood appreciation dessert was lots of fun with lots of yummy desserts. A very special thank you to Linda Reed, assistant superintendent, for giving such an inspiring and informational presentation.

A big thank you goes to San Juan Basin Health and LPEA Round-Up Organization for sponsoring another free immunization clinic. Ninety-two immunizations were given.

We are so grateful to the Monaco family for sponsoring a Friday matinee, “Yogi Bear,” for our local children to attend.

If we have forgotten anyone, please forgive us; we appreciate everyone that made Week of the Young Child such a success. What a wonderful community we live in.
