May 3 is coming up fast, and the pace and excitement of rehearsals for the high school production of the musical version of Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables” is on the rise.
More than 60 cast and crew have been working for about 10 weeks on this challenging musical.
The ensemble recently rehearsed with the 15-piece orchestra, led by Dan Burch, music teacher and program director at the high school. Combining the young vocalists with live musicians was not only a treat for the ears, but an inspiring piece as we work towards opening night.
Members of the orchestra are: Violin 1, Heidi Tanner; Violin 2, Courtney Spears; Viola, Karen Mesikapp; Cello, Kate Kelly; Flute, Angela Ochoa; Soprano/Alto Sax, Bill Gottschalk; Clarinet/Keyboard, Kathy Baisdon; Horn, D’Ann Artis; Trumpet 1, Larry Elginer; Trumpet 2, Larry Baisdon; Baritone, Karl Messikapp; Piano, Venita Burch; Keyboard, Sally Neel; Percussion, Diane Geraghty; Drums, Marcus Rivas.
Supported by Music Boosters and dozens of other community volunteers, “Les Mis” is a collaborative event.
Tickets on sale now at the Chamber of Commerce, the high school, or at the door performance evenings, May 3, 5, 6 and 7 at 7 p.m.
We need our friends and the Town of Pagosa to attend and support the performing arts in our schools.
