Paula Jo Miller is an abstract artist living in beautiful Pagosa Springs, Colorado. She is inspired by her mother, great aunt, and great grandmother who were all recognized for their contributions to art communities throughout the country. Her work focuses on color, shape, balance, depth, and scale. Each painting is intended to change in front of the viewer and open the door for imagination.
Paula Jo’s most recent show was at Wild Spirit Gallery in Pagosa Springs. The one-night opening was a fund-raiser for Pagosa Animal Advocates. Through the sale of her paintings at the event, she raised $4,000 for the non-profit organization. Paula’s work will next appear as part of the Feels Like Uptown art show that corresponds with the play “Fully Committed,” running April 15-24 at The Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts.
When not painting, Paula Jo serves as board secretary for Pagosa Animal Advocates, advisory board member for Texas Humane Legislation Network and volunteer firefighter with the Pagosa Springs Fire District. She donates 20 percent of the sale of her paintings to one of these organizations. Paula Jo recently retired as president of PM Communications where she consulted with non-profit organizations to help them achieve their missions. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with degrees in marketing and finance.
Paula Jo and her husband, Lowell Wiles, live in Pagosa Springs with their two rescued Akitas, Reba and Zoe. Please visit her online gallery at www.myabstractgallery.com.

A new art world
The Arts Council has a clear view of what our future may hold as we work together as one.
As an ongoing organization we’ve been here since 1988 and our new view for the future asks, What if we brought the world to Pagosa and Pagosa to the world?
How would our artists feel if pieces of their art would sell all over the world and if artists from all over world would show in Pagosa Springs Arts Council exhibits? As we embrace a new art world for the future of Pagosa, your comments and suggestions for achieving this ideal are welcome.
The PSAC board meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month and offers an open forum for all ideas. Call PSAC at 264-5020 with your creative thoughts to help us develop this forum for the April 26 board meeting.
Youth art classes
Spring/summer youth art classes are open to the public and especially home-schooled students who are in need of art in their curriculum. For more information, call Estudio Y Galeria at 264-1007.
