The countdown has begun.
The Pagosa Springs High School spring musical production of the classic “Les Miserables” opens in less than a month.
The long-running musical, still playing on Broadway, in London and on tour, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special and spectacular show on PBS.
It is the most challenging musical production the high school music and theater programs have ever undertaken. The learning curve for our students has been swift, demanding and inspiring. Our students’ level of commitment for the show is high. Understanding for the play’s characters, their sufferings, passion and beliefs has been strong and timely as we look at their strength, courage, vulnerabilities and fight for themselves, their fellow man, and freedom.
Once again, our community has come together in support of the performing arts in our schools. There are more than 20 musicians giving of their time and talents to the orchestra. Led by Music Boosters, parents, friends, and volunteers working in all aspects of production, “Les Miserables” opens on Tuesday, May 3, at 7 p.m., and continues on May 5, 6 and 7. There will be four performances only.
Watch our talented young people singing and performing their hearts out. Save the date.
