HOSA in Pagosa to hold benefit dinner, dance and silent auction

We’d like to announce a HOSA in Pagosa dinner, dance and silent auction fund-raiser to be held Friday, April 15, from 6:30-10 p.m. at the Pagosa Springs Youth Center.

We hope community members can save the date and attend. Our high school HOSA chapter, Health Occupations Students of America, is 100-percent healthcare oriented and is made up of students aspiring to enter a healthcare occupation.

We’ll be serving a complete Mexican dinner, including Navajo tacos, posole and sopapilla cheesecake, with lemonade, tea or coffee. A meatless option will be available.

There’ll be some great silent auction items along the lines of our “healthy living” theme, including gift baskets, Parelli level 1/2 multi-language edition 3 DVD set, Xocai healthy chocolate, a large porcelain bowl, one week guest passes to The Club, gift certificates for Joy’s Natural Foods, therapeutic massages, Aqua-Chi foot bath, chiropractic adjustments with therapy, bike rental, adult prophylaxis (dental cleaning), bio-energetic bodywork session, a full set of dog vaccines, new patient dental exam, custom made dental whitening trays with bleach, dog washes, veterinary services, and more. Come shop for yourself, or someone else. We’ll have a live band, so come out for some good food, fun and dancing — all for a good cause.

We are raising funds to help offset the costs of sending 14 deserving HOSA students to the National HOSA Conference in Anaheim, Calif., after they qualified through their State Conference in the following events: Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Pharmacology, Vet Assisting, Forensics, CERT, Biomedical Debate, Pathophysiology, and Physical Therapy. Students include Daryn Butler, Danielle Pajak, Denise Espinosa, Crystal Purcell, Mary Haynes, Seth Hansen, Natasha Medici, Kalie Ray, Alixandra Herrera, Carly Romnes, Alexa Alexander, Shelby Nordendahl, Everett DeGraaf and Eli Velasquez.

We hope you can make it to our HOSA in Pagosa event on April 15. Pre-sale tickets are available at the high school office, as well as at the door. Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for students or seniors.

For more information, call HOSA advisor Cindy Nobles, 264-2231, Ext. 227, or 903-0187.
