‘Messiah in the Passover’ at CrossRoad Christian Fellowship

One of the most exciting events for Pagosa Springs, and the surrounding communities, is fast approaching.  On April 8 at 6 p.m. “Messiah in the Passover” will be presented with eager anticipation at CrossRoad Christian Fellowship.  Most Christians do not have a full knowledge of the Jewish Passover and fascinating seder meal.  Now the opportunity to understand and experience the Passover seder is at hand.

Why is CrossRoad Christian Fellowship excited to present this special event?  At the first Passover in Egypt, physical bondage under the Egyptian taskmasters was immediately changed into liberty.  It was the beginning of a new life for the children of Israel.  This new life affected others as well; immediately impacting the Gentiles.

As the children of Israel were led out of Egypt, “strangers accompanied them”; Gentiles from Egypt.  Scripture teaches in Exodus 12:38 that a mixed multitude came out with them.  The mixed multitude encompassed Jews and Gentiles.  And so, CrossRoad Christian Fellowship will celebrate the message of Passover together – for both Jews and Gentiles.  The message of Passover focuses on the Promised One — the Messiah, Jesus — who has come for both the Jews and Gentiles.

Cathy Wilson, of Chosen People Ministries will present this exciting event.  Cathy was born in New York City.  She lived a “religious” life for 17 years.  In her senior year of high school she came to know the Lord.  Within less than a month, Cathy applied to Northeastern Bible College in New Jersey and graduated in 1974 with a B.A. in biblical literature.  A member of Scottsdale Bible Church, Cathy’s ministry is twofold: the education of the church concerning the Jewish roots of Christianity and outreaches into the numerous Jewish communities.

One of Cathy’s primary areas of ministry is drama.  She regularly portrays Jewish characters, either from New York City or from Russia.  Over the years, Cathy has branched out, using her gifts to write and perform comedic and dramatic sketches.  While enjoying “Messiah in the Passover” you will clearly see her unquestionable love for Jesus Christ and the Jewish people.

CrossRoad Christian Fellowship extends a personal invitation to YOU!  Please come, learn and celebrate together this feast of redemption which God gave to the children of Israel.  We are deeply grateful to our Jewish friends for this amazing message of deliverance, for the Jewish roots of our Christianity — and for the beautiful Passover seder.

When this fascinating instructional celebration is completed you will come away knowing what is on the dining plate at Passover and why.  You will understand the kaleidoscope of sights, smells and tastes; greens, bitter herbs, the mixture of chopped apples, nuts, cinnamon and wine.  You will joyfully learn why the seder plate has beneath it three sheets of flat, unleavened bread called “matzah.”

Like the last presentation of “Messiah in Passover” in 2009, this event is expected to be a sell-out occasion.  Reservations are therefore required through the church office no later than April 6.  Regretfully, seating arrangements cannot be dispensed at the door.  Please call the church office at 731-4384.  To help defray the cost of this presentation, seating arrangements are $4 a person or $10 a family (three or more people).

CrossRoad Christian Fellowship is located at 1044 Park Ave., just west of the Pagosa Lakes Recreation Center.  Come join us for this enthralling event.
