Curtis B. (Kurt) Killion passed away March 11, 2011, in Pagosa Springs. He was born May 30, 1927, in Oak Park, Ill., the son of Curtis and Bernice Killion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Hildebrandt) Killion, on Dec. 4, 2009. Among Kurt’s survivors are his and Shirley’s sons, Cliff (Michele) of Rockford, Ill., Brad (Boni) of Mt. Vernon, Wash., and Wes (Carmen) of Loveland, Colo.; two granddaughters, Lisa and Rachel; and three great-grandchildren, Clarence, Marissa and Thalia. Also his sister, Ann (Bruce) McConachie, Wheaton, lll., and his sister-in-law, Jean (Ron) Hrubecky, N. Riverside, Ill.
Kurt had been living, and loving life, in Pagosa Springs for the last 30 some years. He was active, outgoing and happy go lucky to the end. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, singing in barbershop quartets, helping and/or antagonizing people, and had a host of other interests and experiences throughout his life. He worked as an optician in the Chicago area then, after moving to Pagosa, he had worked for the Forest Service, Archuleta County and, after retirement, drove the Senior Bus and did various other things to keep himself busy and involved.
His sons, and family, would like to thank his friends, and celebrate Kurt and Shirley’s lives, at a memorial gathering at 12:45 p.m. in the Community Center Gym, 451 Hot Springs Blvd., after the Senior Center lunch on Tuesday, April 5.
