The Pagosa Fire Auxiliary, Inc., has taken on the task of raising funds for the construction of the Pagosa Fire 9/11 Memorial.
This memorial will incorporate an artifact received from the World Trade Center and memorialize the first responders who perished while attempting to save occupants of the buildings at what is now referred to as “Ground Zero.”
In this issue of The SUN is a poster designed by Old West Press for the purpose of reminding people of the ultimate sacrifice first responders made on that fateful day 10 years ago.
The fund-raising goal is to have the memorial planned, paid for and constructed prior to Sept. 11, 2011, in order to dedicate it on that day, in memory of the 2001 disaster.
The drawing for The Buck Stops Here meat prizes is to be held Sept. 11, 2011. Tickets for the drawing will be on sale at numerous business establishments around town.
There are additional plans underway to raise funds for this project.
Anyone wanting to make a tax deductible donation to the Memorial Fund can make checks payable to the Pagosa Fire Auxiliary, LLC at 191 N. Pagosa Blvd., Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.
